Hi guys, if you haven't noticed, you HAVE to see this:

Look at the top of the webpage. It's no more "Chongfu Primary School". It's "Chongfu School".

And apparently, there's a "Ceremony for change of flag and school name". If you remember, the flag looks like this:

I doubt they will change the whole flag, maybe just the name to "Chongfu School". But who knows?

Singapore Sports School paddler says pressure's off with underdog tag

HER coach has singled her out as the best player in Singapore's table tennis team for the Asian Youth Games.

She will face off against the best young talent in Asia, and will be performing in front of family and friends, but Isabelle Li is taking it all in stride.

The team met members of the media yesterday at Toa Payoh Sports Hall, and Isabelle said: "I've played a lot of the Asian countries on the junior circuit and the experience has helped.

"Table tennis is an 11-point game so there's still a chance of an upset. There's also less pressure when you're the underdog."

The table tennis competition begins at the revamped Toa Payoh Sports Hall next Wednesday. Four events - boys' and girls' singles, mixed doubles and mixed team (two singles, mixed doubles) - will be contested in the six-day competition featuring players in the 14-15 age-group.

China, Japan, and South Korea are in the top tier of opponents as their teams are strong," said coach Xu Xiangdong.

"Singapore are in the second tier along with Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Indonesia, North Korea and India.

"The standards are very close between these teams, although North Korea have professional players who can throw up a few surprises."

Representing the Republic will be Raffles Girls' Secondary School pupil Chau Haiqing and Singapore Sports School students Clarence Chew, Tay Jit Kiat and Isabelle, all 14 years old.

The quartet have been training in Zhending, China, since March.

Xu singled out Clarence and Isabelle as stand-out members of the team.

Isabelle is ranked eighth in the ITTF's under-15 world rankings. She topped the 42-strong field at last year's Commonwealth Youth Games in Pune, India.

She clinched singles gold at the 2008 International Children's Games and Taiyuan Open, and she took home a team silver and two bronze medals in the Under-15 girls' singles and doubles events at the recent South-east Asian Junior Table Tennis Championships in Bangkok.

The teenager also competed in the World Championships in Yokohama in April and the China Open earlier this month.

Isabelle will pair up with Clarence in the mixed doubles and mixed team event. The duo have been training together since January and competed at last year's National 'B' Division Championships and the Thailand Sports School Games, where they clinched the under-14 mixed doubles gold.

"We have a good chance in the mixed doubles and I'm aiming for a top-four finish," said Clarence.

"There is a big gap in standards between the male and female players for some countries, and it'll be hard for them to coordinate. But Isabelle and I are closer in standard, so it's easier for us to play together."

Coach Xu is not putting any undue pressure on his charges.

"The whole team's strength is better than last October when I first started as a coach here, but they are young and up against some professional players.

"My target is for them to go out there and just get a good result," he said.

I don't know what exactly happened, that made us change from being a happy class with an alive tagboard just a few days ago, and now, to the extent that we have to even take down the cbox.

I think that this is our class's problem. So we should try to settle it on our own, and I don't think we need people from outside our class to tell us what to do. & thank you very much, but we don't need a detailed analysis of our class's poem.

So unless everyone can calm down, think logically, apologise for their bad behaviour (if they had), the cbox will not be back.

Dear 6Gracians,

The gathering is scheduled to be on 14th December 2008, Sunday. It will be held at East Coast Park. Please take note of the following details.

Time: 11am
Meeting place: Yishun Bus Interchange
Venue: East Coast Park

Activities: Cycling, Rollerblading, Ball games eg. Volleyball, etc. Basically anything that can be done there. Having lunch at East Coast Park.

In the case that it rains, we will be going to the bowling alley at Marine Cove, where the Macdonald's is at all. There will be around 20people turning up on that day. The chalet plan was disrupted due to unforeseen circumstances, chalets were fully booked. It will be scheduled on another day, sorry for the inconvenience caused. Thank you.

After collating the available dates from most of our classmates, we have come to the conclusion that 14 December 2008, Sunday, is the most suitable date for the Class Gathering. The total number of replies we have is twenty-two out of a total of forty-one. On the 14th, there are only four who cannot make it, and thus we find it the most suitable choice.

Apparently there are two issues we currently have:
Class Tee
Gathering

Instead of just talking about it on the tagboard, it's time for some action.
For a more orderly and efficient way of completing these two tasks, we ought to have 2 groups each completing one of the tasks.

Therefore, for class tee, we require:
1. Designer(s)
2. ~~Scout (searching for manufacturer)~~ has been done.
3. Treasurer (collecting money)
4. Collector of T-shirts
People required: 2/3

Of course, anybody can design. Deadline: 9 Nov 2008 12am to be posted on the blog.

For gathering, we require:
1. Admin Team (selecting venue, booking if needed, finances, contacting, etc.)
People required: 3/4
2. Welfare Team (planning activities, etc.)
People required: 2

Please volunteer yourself and start planning as soon as possible. We certainly want a class tee as well as a gathering before the end of this year. You can join more than one group, certainly.

Dear 6Gracians,

Looking at the comments on the tagboard about the Class Tee-Shirt, and how the progress of the making and printing of it is, I have decided to email some of the Tee-Shirt printers in Singapore, to be exact, five of them of which I have the contacts to. Of which, two of the five personnels have replied, providing us with responses and comments, along with the quotations. At the same time, the amount of time needed for the printing to be done, and the way of collection or delivery is stated in the emails.

According to the responses, the designs which can be seen on the shirt are too big for printing. Since the base for the design is actually a Tee-Shirt itself, it is assumed that all designs are in proportion. And thus it can be seen that if the design is to be printed onto the Tee-Shirts, the size of the design will be bigger than an A3 size paper, which is not ideal as it is too big. Maximum size is currently, as far as I know, A3, and it is preferably A4 due to the lower cost. Below are the prices offered from the two companies, after havin seen our current design.

From Company E, for an A3-sized design to be printed on the Tee-Shirts cost SGD22, whereas for an A4-sized design to be printed, it costs SGD16 for each shirt. Collection of shirts will take place at Aljunied or Serangoon MRT, which will be free of charge, or with an extra SGD15, it will be delivered to us. If we submit our designs to this company for printing, a 50% deposit is required.

From Company T, for an A4-sized design shirt, it costs SGD15, exclusive of a GST of 7.00%. From this company, maximum print size is A4. There is free delivery of shirts, and production time takes up at most two weeks.

Please note that above prices are for the current designs, which consists of only the colour white, and a base of black. Thus if there are any changes to the design, the cost may change. Looking at the situation, we need a new design which is smaller in size, preferably A4-sized as we can see that the A3-sized design is too costly. Designs are welcomed to be submitted again, and once again, Danny is volunteering to help with the designing, along with Kai Yang, both from 6Gracious.

Thank you once again for the enthusiastic support and contribution, really hope to see this keep up, and everything going smoothly as planned.

December 2008 Gathering

Dear All,

With the Year-End holidays approaching, it's time we continue to keep up our class spirit, which, as usual, would be in the form of gatherings. In addition, as quite a number of people here have finished their exams, they would be able to put more effort in the year-end class gathering.

The most popular choice to date has obviously been the chalet, but due to the lack of time causing the difficulty of choosing the date and to the fact that almost all the chalets have been booked now, it is most likely struck off the list.

Now we have a list of possible venues we can go to for our gathering:

3. Orchid Park condominium
4. Ice Skating
5. East Coast park

Suggestions and feedback will be welcomed.

In addition, we are going to need volunteers for the admin team and the welfare team.

Haha i shall be formal like Kai Yang. So anyway, I'm appealing for help!

A group of students from Nanyang Student Council, and a few others from the Nanyang student body are organising a jogathon for their Citibank-YMCA Youth for Causes programme. I am in one of the committees, and hence would like to ask for volunteers to help pubicise this event, and so we need volunteers to help distribute flyers by placing them into mailboxes!

Most importantly, CIP hours would be rewarded! All you have to do is to give me your details, and I'll pass you the flyers for you to place them in the mailboxes at blocks near your house! Also, we are appealing for people to be road marshalls during the day itself, during the marathon, which is on 13 September, from 8 am to 11.30 am. CIP hours would be given as well. Remember, it's all for a good cause as all proceeds would go to New Hope Community Services, a Voluntary Welfare Organization which provides assistance, counseling and training to alleviate difficulties and the suffering of needy individuals and families. SO PLEASE HELP! Your effort would make a big difference! :]

We are also finding volunteers to help us pack goodie bags. But i guess it might be pretty troublesome as you would have to come to Nanyang to help. CIP hours given too. It's quite an easy job, and if you come with a group of friends, it's acceptable too.

Oh and if you are wondering if the CIP hours would apply for your school, it definitely will! What I mean is that the CIP hours rewarded would be like how you earn them in your respective schools.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST, please help to ask your friends too, and it's perfectly fine if you would like to come as a group. The more the merrier. This will make a bigger impact on the lives of the people we're all helping (:

Dear 6 Gracious,

On the 25th of August, today, Danny, Chun Fai and myself, Kai Yang, went to Queensway shopping mall to check out the T-shirt printing shops there. After strolling around the place, we uncovered two T-shirt printing shops, and have decided the more cost-efficient shop. The shop offers a cost of $19 per T-shirt printed. After intense discussion, we have decided that we would collect the money on 1 September, Friday, at Chongfu Primary School. If you are interested in buying the T-shirt, please try your best to come on that day and hand over SGD $19.00 for the T-shirt.

In addition, please start informing us on the suitable size for u (XS, S, M, L, XL) either via the tagboard, sms, or MSN. If your size is out of range, please forget about the T-shirt or you can try begging the shop owner.

so, things to be done:

The major change of date has been confirmed and Gladys has managed to book the clubhouse on 8 June. This is a very important announcement and I hope everyone can take note of it. Admin, please help to inform the people invited.

There is going to be a change of plans for the gathering. We have just noticed that 15 June is Fathers' Day, and most of you would probably want to stay at home or go out to celebrate.

Dear 6 Gracious,

Looking at the positive feedback, I take it that everyone is satisfied with the plan, and therefore the plan shall be implemented. Suggestions are still welcome though.

Next, about what happens if weather conditions are not favourable. If there is wet weather on that day, the activities wills till resume as they are not afftected (you can play blind mice indoors). Therefore, there will be no need for a wet weather plan since it will be similar to the original plan.

Lastly, regarding people who shun away from cameras, tell them that the photographs are meant for memories, and not meant to ridicule or make them look silly. However, if they still refuse, do not harrass them.

I hope this gathering can be a successful one.

Okay this is an overall update on what is going to happen for the 6GRA june gathering for those who don't want to read long posts.

Location: Yishun Emerald

Since my tag on the tagboard got buried (sort of), this is just to clarify chyifang's post, that we hope that the welfare team, sophia, theron and kaiyang, can tell us the dates and times which you are free and prefer the gathering to be held in.

Regarding kaiyang's post, I think maybe you misunderstood and thought chyifang is asking us all to tag on the tagboard as to which day the gathering should be held on, but we will be sending an sms to the rest of the 6 gracious pupils :D

If we know which week the welfare comm are free, it would be much easier as we can just ask the rest of the 6gracious pupils if they're free on that particular week.

Lastly, I hope there wouldn't be any quarrels amongst us all, alright? This is supposed to be a happy event planning, so let us all be happy(:

Dear 6 Gracious,

First of all, I hope everyone can understand that initiative is a very important thing. You need to have the initiative in order to make sure the gathering stays well-planned and not delayed, and you need to have the initiative to read posts word for word, to make sure you do not miss out any important imformation or updates, so as to prevent misunderstandings.

Secondly, regarding people who have requested for the contact list, you can ask sophia to send you via email, but pardon me for asking this: if you are not involved in contacting the people asking them about the dates that they are free, why do you need the contact list?

Thirdly, regarding Theron's latest tag, I said that to make you understand that the contacts are only for the people who are needed to contact the people, in other words, the admin, like I have explained. I have been trying to tell you that only the admin are needed to contact them. I believe there is no need to express yourself using vulgarities, and if I have not been clear in expressing myself, I apologise. I'm sorry, okay?

Next, I would like to add on that once the date has been set, the Admin can choose to help the welfare or they can go off slacking, depending on your mind.

Next, I would like to answer to chyifang's post regarding contacting the people. I would prefer the admin to send an sms regarding the date as looking at the past year's experience, allocating a suitable date via the tagboard is not effective. To the question of how to send the sms, perharps you could say: hello, im ___, may i ask you when are you not free during the june holidays? We are organising a 6 gracious gathering during the june holidays, and we need to pick a suitable date for the gathering. Please reply this sms as soon as possible. thanks!

In addition, if the admin is experiencing any difficulties, they can ask for help from the welfare.

Dear Organising Team,

In order to make this gathering a successful one, I strongly think that the preparing work has to be done as soon as possible. This does not only apply to the Administrative, but also the Welfare. Therefore, to make the task of the Administrative easier, I suggest that you should start off by asking the Organsing Team members(OTm) for their free dates first. This is such that we can confirm that all the OTm can make it on the day of the gathering.

After collating the dates that the OTm are free, the dates would therefore be somewhat narrowed down, thus leaving you an easier task in asking our fellow classmates for their free dates. Another method would be by asking for their free days (Monday, Tuesday, etc). As some people may have CCAs or other commitments that are occupying some of their days, and are fixed, please take note of the days that they are free, and also of they are going to a holiday, or going overseas, take note of the dates. Regarding the week that the gathering would be held at, the Welfare Committee cannot decide on our own as we do not, at the moment know when are our classmates free. Dear Organising Team,

According to the poll and the tagboard responses, the more popular choice for the June gathering to be held at is Yishun Emerald. Therefore, now that we have agreed on a suitable place, I would like to remind everyone that we ought to start planning now, and the most important thing to be done as soon as possible: date, to be done by those who volunteered to be in the Admin.

Therefore, I hope the Admin would start messaging people now, and to find out a suitable date for most of the ex-classmates.

I would like to add that the date has to be suitable for all of the organising team members, as they are needed on that day.

Sophia will be sending the contact list to the Admin by email. Please read through it and take action as soon as possible. Time is running out.

I would like to remind everyone that you volunteered yourself to do a service for our class and plan this june gathering, therefore I hope that you would be able to carry out action effectively and as soon as possible, instead of just talking.

Well obviously the poll wasn't such a good idea after all, due to SOME PEOPLE who voted multiple times. So I suggest that we assign a number of people to each person who tags here, or the members of the admin and welfare dept. Then people who are assigned the names will then go ask which venue they prefer.

I know that it's the mid-years period so those who have not taken their exams or is still taking please mention so on the tagboard and no job will be assigned to you, at least until your exams are over. Thanks.

Even though this is the mid-year assessments period, we would still like to start our planning of the 6gracious gathering that happens frequently. However, there are few responses to the previous post and question posted by the Welfare Committee.

The question is whether Yishun Emerald, Gladys' house would be a better choice or Orchid Park Condominium. In case you all may ask what is the difference in facilities provided in the above two choices, they are stated below.

According to your constructive feedback, I have decided to compile them to make it more reader-friendly.The feedback are in no order of merit, but in order of date.

Option one: Movie

tohkaiyang: no good, no interaction. having a post-movie activity is good, but movie would be wasting time for interaction.
sophia: combine movie with other stuff, so that the gathering's focus is not only on movie.

Option two: Chalet

theron: have to book early
chyi fang: chalet quite ma fan

Option three: Theme Park (Escape)

tohkaiyang: dam nice but some people would not want to sit the rides.
chyi fang: if people dont like playing wild stuff he/she would not want to go.
junqi: dun go escape,go wild wild wet. escape requires adult price.some people would not want to go on some of the rides.
jingwen: dun go escape, she gets dizzy on the rides, dun dare to go on some
sophia: escape is fun, but a lot of people would not want to go, so no good. but it is FUN

Option four: Go someone's house

chyi fang: gladys condo clubhouse
tohkaiyang: go someone's house not bad
jingwen: house must be big

Option five: Ice skating

tohkaiyang: boring, people end up with sore legs

Yes I agree we NEED to have more gatherings. I don't want to imagine the day when 6Gra people don't get together any more. June holidays... 2 gatherings is too little la. I mean 1 whole month with only 2 gatherings?! That's so wrong. I say at least 5 gatherings.

i totally agree with chermain about gatherings, we ought to have at least 2 class gatherings in the june holidays to see how tall each other have grown xD but anyway seriously when any of us meet each other shd at least nod ur head or something, or wave or just raise ur hand, and dont be like shy and dao the person, or pretend u never see him/her, cos we are ex classmates, not strangers. so for organisers i strongly recommend theron, he planned a gathering last december which rocked my pants off (dont believe u can ask chun fai/gladys/ignatius/elaine). so i seriously recommend theron, and i hope he would volunteer himself to do a service for the ex class.

and i wan volunteers to be in the OT =_=

and i certainly do not recommend movie gatherings, cos they dont allow much interaction (how do u interact when ur just sitting there watching the movie? at most only talk with the person sitting beside u)

Tag summary:
People are complaining about CCA. Last time, there is no compulsory rule that everyone must have CCA. Those who have go back home latest 4.30pm. Now, because of CCA, there is no common time to have a gathering in Chongfu.
Everybody is upset with the spammer, Kira*L (name from Death Note). Kira*L is badmouthing and offending our classmates and they are not in the least pleased. Thus, they try to "wear him down" by responding to his insults. People believe that he is from 6Respectful and HCI and is uncultured. Currently, his named is changed to KiRa'L. Note: "Kira" means "killer" (pronounce the 'r' as 'l') and does "L" mean loser? Is he a loser killer or a killer loser? Possible suspects: tay pang shiang.
Quote from Jingwen about losing 1 mark and dropping one grade: "1 mark can cause you to be like, lose or gain a lot of marks. i prefer like, more marks and more qns".
By the way, the story, it looks very weird "hanging" like that so I gave it an ending. Thanks!

YAY I HOPE MY IDEA OF A STORY CAN WORK :D

Ok due to feedback the story shall be written in italics while normal tagging shall be done in normal font :D

So far, the story is like:

One sunny morning, 6gracious06 went to a deep forest full of terrors and evil. As they trekked deeper into the forest, an eerie sound came out from Theron's mouth. Celeste turned around saw a horrible gooey sight, Theron slowly dissolved into thin air and was replaced by a huge monster called Voldemort, which dissolved back into Theron, who gave an evil smile, opened its mouth and a pile of spit dribbled out.
"Stop playing," says Celeste, "I'm scared already."
Jingwen heard what Celeste is shouting and said, "Theron is not here who are you talking to?"
Then Junqi screamed:"What?! Everyone started to panic.
Some said, "Isn't that Theron?" while others shrieked, "That's a non-human existence spot you're pointing at!"
The great monster was engulfed in a cloud of black smoke. When it cleared, someone, or rather, something appeared, standing thirty feet tall and and dribbling acid all over the place. It was Chyifang plus one helluva monstrous face. Everyone said, "Hunquan stop playing tricks!".
He replied, "It wasn't me!"
No one believed Hun Quan. And he started to cry...
"Stop acting!" snapped Sophia. "Do you know how serious this is?"
The others all agreed.
Suddenly, "Aaah!" Everyone panicked and screamed. Hun Quan shot many people. He thought that he was the master of the universe. But Theron was unharmed as there were no more bullets in Hun Quan's gun. Theron immediately drew out a knife and stabbed Hun Quan. But to his surprise, Hun Quan recovered from the stab because he wore an impenetrable armour inside his shirt!
"I am sorry! I did not know what's come over me. " Hun Quan surrendered to Theron. "Please forgive me."
"No!" Theron screamed. "You killed the whole class! Our friends!"
"It's OK!" Everyone else in 6 gracious stood up, unharmed too. "We also wore impenetrable armours!"
Hun Quan was forgiven because he realised his mistakes and promised not to act rashly anymore.
"WAIT!!!" Chyifang shouted out. "How about the monster? And the acidic stuff?"
"OH NO!!! THE WOODS ARE HAUNTED!!!!" JunQi exclaimed.
"It's OK!" Voldemort assured the class. "As long we are together, nothing can break our strong bond!!! United we stand!!! 6gracious rocks!!!"

Hello!

The 6gracious gathering was a great success with more than half the class attending. Although it was raining yesterday, the 15th of December, it was only a small and short drizzle, so everyone could go outdoors. I hope that everyone had lots of fun.

Alright, now for the credits.
Gladys' maid for cooking all the nice food for us.
Gladys' dad for booking the clubhouse.
The people who contributed in organising so that so many people would attend.
Everyone who came, so that we can have lots of fun together.
The ones who couldn't come(the other 6gracians), for telling us so, so that we have no need to worry who's coming and who's not.
The security guard for opening the clubhouse for us.
The clouds, for not letting the rain fall down for too long.
Chermain and Junqi for bringing cups and cutleries respectively.

Basically, everyone, who contributed in one way or another.
Thanks again, for making this gathering a successful one.

The people who were unable to attend, we sincerely apologise again. This would not be the last gathering that we have, we will have lots more, and we will definitely try as much as we can to choose a date that everyone can make it.
